Ear to Ear Medal Winning Grin
My daughter got a medal WOO WOO and don't you know, I didn't get the ear to ear medal winning grin. I didn't have my camera when she got it!! This is the morning after photo. I also missed an opportunity to get a picture of the medal in it's original state.I know, bad Mommy bad Mommy, and I call myself a scrapbooker!! snort. Ten minutes after she got it, she flipped it over?! RIPPED the label right off of it! You know, the label with all important information that ten years down the road we won't remember. Her response to my horror? "whaddaya need to know for Momma, I got the medal...who care's about the label". Guess I should start caring less because when she slopped her dinner on it? Yeah, I wasn't happy about that either. So here she is with her label less dinner slopped swim medal. humph. I know, chill out Mom at least you got a picture before it was completely trashed. Yeah, I thought I would play nice Mommy and I let her wear it to school. You know the ribbon part looks like it went through a shredder right? humph. Try again next year.
If you went to the My Creative Mess site and didn't find it, it's because it's no longer My Creative Mess. Due to some crazy circumstances Jenn had to change the name of her blog. Here is the new link to My Creative Mess now known as Creative Chaos.

What A Weekend
Wow, I went from being on the couch to feeling like someone launched me out of a rocket. I'm so tired, I 'll be glad to go work tomorrow.huh huh snort. Yesterday was my daughters swim championships. We had to arrive for warm ups at 7:30 a.m. The meet started at 9:30 and finished at 2:30. Nothing says love like sitting on child size bleachers for 8 hrs when your just recovering from pneumonia. I tell you, the humid air and the smell of chlorine were not my friend! My family was worried about me and kept telling me to go outside for air good god people it was the championships!! I finally got pissy and told them if I actually passed out just throw ice on me and prop me up when she swims. Nothing like being mean to your family when they are all just worried about you. Shame on me. But really theday wasn't about me, we were all there to see Kels. Aside from feeling crappy it was a great experience. It started with a parade of champions that nearly brought tears to my eyes. It's her first year of swimming and I wasn't expecting this to be that big of a deal. She swam great and only had trouble with one race.
It was one of those scare the crap outta Mommy moments!! She dove way too deep and didn't come up right away. I had the spilt second feeling of oh my god she cracked her skull! When she came up she clearly had taken in some water. She was able to finish the race but you could tell she never quite got her bearings. I'm not 100% sure but I think she won at least one individual medal and possibly a team medal for the relay. The scoring system is still confusing to me. All of the children are seeded, that just sound so harsh to me, but that's the way it is. So even though she did well if she wasn't in the top 8 overall in at least one event, no medal. Thankfully they do top 8and not bronze, silver, gold. We'll find out in a few days if she's getting a medal. Keep your fingers crossed. Also keep your fingers crossed that my BIL got better pictures than I did. I only took a couple and they came out like crap!!
When we left championships, are day really began. We went to Yobo, it's are favorite restaurant. Authentic Japanese cuisine. yum. From there we went for a trip to Orange County Choppers. Although I'm not exactly a biker chick, it was a really coooool place. They had a bike to honor the fireman who were lost in 9/11, many of the men were local to us. I don't think my photo does is justice.
Today was a little more laid back. We went out for breakfast. A trip to Target and a visit with baby Sean. Oh and I got one page done this weekend. It's for a sketch challenge over at The Scraproom, the sketch is by Susan K. I also did a little on-line shopping this morning. Did anyone else get Noel's new kit?? Love it!

View From The Couch
I am sick of the view from my couch. No pun intended. I have been home sick with walking pneumonia for over a week now and I've decided that I'm a slob!! I've noticed every cob web, finger print, out of place knick knack, pile of crap...you name it I've noticed it!! How is it that some people get the neat gene and some of us get the gene that says collect as much crap as you possibly can and then buy more crap!! OK can you tell I'm starting to go stir crazy?? It might have something to do with the steroids too. After being sick for a week I went back to the Dr. on Monday and he says, your lungs haven't improved. Let's put you on some steroids and get you back to work. HELLLLLOOOO I say why didn't you put me on steroids last week?? Not that I'm looking forward to going back to work but hey, breathing normal is good.
What else did I learn this week? I have no scrap style. In between coughs I managed to make one page and three cards and they are all over the place. The page weighs about two pounds and my cards look plain in comparison. What am I doing wrong? I've also come to the conclusion that I just can't take a good picture and it's really starting to piss me off! Flash on, flash off, macro on, macro off, zoom in, zoom out. Arghhh!! I'm one of those people that occasionally gets a good shot and that's it. Can you also tell that I'm sick and the sun isn't shining here today. I think it's time for some chocolate. Oh and top it off the school called to tell me that they have my smart beautiful honor roll princess in the office. She's going to be suspended and sent to the social worker. For SPITTING in someones face. WHAT????After I nearly have a stroke they figured out that she stuck her tongue out and blew a raspberry. She didn't actually goob in someones face on purpose!! Whew!! Of course by the time this all got figured out I had already called my husband who had plans of backing over the Wii, he called Pop Pop was ready to cut off the college fund and so on. I had to call everyone back, oops false alarm.
I used a sketch from So Sketchy for the thank you card and more bird stuff from my Scrapbook Cirlce kit.I think I used half of my Nightingale kit on my grow page but as usual Noel knocked it out of the box with her kit. This is for the Wedding Cake Challenge over at Noel Mignon. If you didn't get this kit check it out, it's really LOADED!! Off to see if I actually have some chocolate in the house!

My Creative Mess March GDT
I got my pack of goodies from My Creative Mess the other day and dang do I wish I had more time to play this weekend!! I've been a fan of Jenn's for awhile now and lemme tell you. Her stuff gets better and better. She's also quite entertaining so if you haven't checked out her blog it's a must read. I ended up getting 3 pages and a card done. All of the journaling spots and tags are from My Creative Mess. I also used a So Sketchy sketch for the Fabulous page. Allison has some great sketches over at her site.
On the swim front? My girl DID qualify for Butterfly and did she ever!! That time I wasn't sure about? Well it not only qualified her for championships but it put her at number FIVE in the entire league. I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about swimming but I just can't contain my excitement. Check out the page of her as a baby trying to swim in the dogs dish. I guess she was telling us something back then. I used some of my Scrapbook Circle kit for this one. I'm loving all the new bird themed products.
Can I also tell you that the sun was shining here yesterday AND today!! WooHoo I have had enough of New Yorks grey winter sky!! Hellloooo sun!!

Championship Swimmer?
Last summer on a whim, my daughter decided she wanted to try out for the swim team. Without ever having a lesson. OK a couple of lessons, her pre school offered swim lessons but the instructor was so mean she made her cry every time and I pulled her from the lessons! Damn I'd like to run into her today, but that's another story! Anyway, before we went I gave her the don't be disappointed speech, if you don't make the team we can get you lessons and try again, blah blah blah. I also went through how different being on a team is compared to swimming in Aunt Candy's pool for fun. Well she made the team.
Yesterday was her last ESSL team meet. She didn't swim back stroke and instead was put into butterfly. I was a little aggravated because because back is one if not her strongest stroke. All I could think was why, why take her out of her best stroke and put her in a stroke she can barley swim! Last time she did butterfly she got disqualified and the time before she just made it to the end of the pool! Little did I know my girl has been sand bagging!! This kid swam like a rocket. I'm pretty damn sure she got herself qualified for butterfly. She has gone to practice a minimum three times a week and in 7 short months has made it to the ESSL Championships!! She has worked so hard at this. I can't tell you how proud of her I am! I don't have all the "official" particulars yet but I think she will be swimming a 25 and 50 yard Freestyle, a 25 Yard Backstroke and depending on her time yesterday a 25 yard Butterfly.
It was especially exciting for her because her cousin James showed up! What a surprise for her to look up in the stands and see Daddy holding baby James.
